Marathi wedding invitation wording (लग्न पत्रिका format)

Most Marathi families write the patrika in the same order every time: the invocation, the families, the couple, the muhurt, the hall, and the request to come with everyone at home. Below are three complete samples in Devanagari you can copy and change — traditional, plain and short — plus the WhatsApp line that goes with the link.

What goes on the card, in order

मंगल चिन्ह / आवाहन: The card opens with ॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥ or ॥ श्री ॥. Some families use their kuldaivat's name instead.
निमंत्रक — the hosts: The parents' names come before the couple's: श्री. व सौ. [नाव] यांच्या कन्येचा / चिरंजीवाचा विवाह. Grandparents' blessings (आशीर्वाद) are often named above them.
वधू-वर — the couple: The groom is written as चि. [नाव] and the bride as चि.सौ.कां. [नाव]. Surnames and the parents' town usually follow in brackets.
मुहूर्त — date and time: The tithi and the English date are both given, then the exact muhurt: दि. [तारीख], सकाळी [वेळ] वाजता. This is the line guests plan around.
स्थळ — the hall: Full mangal karyalaya name and address. If reception (स्वागत समारंभ) is separate, it gets its own line with its own time.
विनंती — the request: Ends with सहकुटुंब सहपरिवार उपस्थित राहावे ही विनंती, and the inviting family's names below.

Common questions

चि. आणि चि.सौ.कां. म्हणजे काय?: चि. म्हणजे चिरंजीव — मुलासाठी वापरतात. चि.सौ.कां. म्हणजे चिरंजीव सौभाग्यकांक्षिणी — अविवाहित मुलीसाठी वापरतात. दोन्ही नावाच्या आधी लिहितात.
Should the tithi be on the card as well as the date?: On a printed patrika most families give both. On a digital card the English date and the muhurt time are usually enough, and the tithi is kept for the elders' line.
Whose names come first?: The hosting parents. In Marathi cards the groom's family is named first when the groom's side is inviting, and the bride's family first on their own card — each side usually prints its own.
Can I write the names in Marathi and the address in English?: Yes, and most people do — it makes the address easier to search in maps. The invitation renders exactly what you type.
